Psychologist – Regular Full-time Position

Cégep Héritage College

This is a Contract position in Gatineau, QC posted September 11, 2023.

ROLE SUMMARY:
The position of psychologist encompasses the functions of a clinician, as well as the responsibility for leading activities and providing guidance on issues relating to the mental health and the personal and academic development of students.

DUTIES:

  • Help individual students use their own resources in coping with a problem situation. Create a climate conducive to the integration of an experience.
  • Use standardized assessment tools, conduct interviews and make observations, if necessary. Analyze and interpret the observations and data collected.
  • Refer individual students to other organizations such as community health services, social service centers and hospitals if necessary.
  • Take part in case studies within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Collaborate with other stakeholders concerned, and as part of the College’s success plan, develop, implement, lead and evaluate activities fostering the personal growth and academic achievement of students.
  • Upon request, help teaching staff gain a fuller understanding of the interpersonal relationship dynamics between teacher and student.
  • Develop and maintain contacts with representatives of the health and social services network and other partner organizations in their own area of competence.
  • Prepare and update records, adhering to the standards of their profession and the College’s by-laws.
  • May be called upon to intervene in order to defuse crises or emergency situations and suggest avenues for resolving them.
  • Maintain constant relations with the administrative staff, the teachers, the parents and with other institutions involved in the guidance of students.
  • May be asked to represent Student Services on some committees (CERT. Mental Health,…).
  • Performs other related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • Must be a member of l’Ordre des psychologues du Québec.
  • Pertinent experience at the collegial level will be considered an asset.
  • Must be fluently bilingual in both English and French (written, spoken and comprehension).

  • Must possess excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Must have excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Must be diligent, dynamic, creative and detail oriented.
  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision, and have the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Must be flexible and able to adapt quickly to different situations.
  • Must have a good work ethic and exercise discretion.

SALARY RANGE:
51,739.00$ – 96,575.00$
