Computer Technician – Server/Cloud Administrator (Principal Class)

ROLE SUMMARY :
Under the authority of the department manager, the incumbent is responsible for the administration of the College’s server and cloud infrastructure as well as related server security services. The incumbent will grow in a diverse and challenging environment and be part of a team that values mutual support.
DUTIES: As part of his/her duties, the Computer Technician:
- Installs, configures, and administers the various Windows under the responsibility of IST, as well as the software on those in accordance with various policies and procedures. We also have a few Linux and Appliances.
- Ensures the proper operation (installations, maintenance, repairs, upgrades) and improvement of the server infrastructures, both physical and virtual, local or in the cloud.
- Enforces various security and integrity policies and mechanisms for access to resources.
- Architects the user and group security for various tools like Outlook, MS Teams, SharePoint.
- Provides assistance to technicians assigned to 1st level support as an escalation point.
- Maintains up-to-date documentation of infrastructure, administration, installation, and configuration procedures for various components.
- Makes recommendations and advises the management team.
- Assess the stability, security, and scalability of installed systems.
- Patch and upgrades servers.
- Reviews system error logs.
- Actively participates in the implementation of technological infrastructures required by the various College’s projects.
- Participates in the evolution of equipment, software, and systems that the College is considering for deployment.
- Performs occasional maintenance outside of normal working hours.
- Performs all other related tasks.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
- Have a minimum of a college diploma (DEC) with an appropriate field of specialization (Computer Science Techniques with Network Option, Electronics Techniques with Network option, etc.) or a diploma whose equivalence is recognized by the competent authority.
- Must have a minimum of 4 years of experience relevant to the duties of the position.
- Must have excellent knowledge of Microsoft Azure (certification an asset).
- Must have excellent knowledge of Microsoft products such as Intune, Microsoft 365, Active Directory, GPO, DNS, DHCP and Microsoft Defender.
- Must have excellent knowledge of Outlook, MS Teams, SharePoint.
- Knowledge of Linux an asset.
- Knowledge of VMware an asset.
- Knowledge of AWS an asset.
English skills are essential (written, spoken and comprehension) and functional French is required.

SALARY RANGE (PER HOUR): 22.59$ – 30.46$
