This is a Full-time position in Gatineau, QC posted March 24, 2020.

The Position:Katasa Group + Development (“Katasa”, the “Company”) is a growing company in real estate development and management, focusing primarily in the retirement home sector.

Katasa is looking for a new member of the Finance and Management team, namely: a Director of Finance (FD).

This person will provide leadership and direction to the finance & accounting teams.

The FD will provide Management with key financial information and reports that will help them make decisions in a timely and proactive manner.

The FD will work closely with the finance & accounting teams to ensure that information is correctly reported whilst looking to improve efficiency within the department and the Company as a whole.

The ability to analyze and interpret financial data while being focused on the Company’s “big picture” goals is pivotal to the role.As Katasa is a growing Company, the Finance Director will be working with a smaller team, so the role requires that they work closely and be “hands-on” with the finance & accounting teams, and elsewhere in the Company where deemed appropriate.Duties: As a Finance Expert:Has a clear sense of what drives profit and cash in the business.Has an affinity with numbers and able to interpret them for others, set against a backdrop of effective risk management and an intrinsic ability to sense and manage cashflow requirements.For external regulations and rules, looks at relevant consultations and responds where appropriate.Reviews and analyzes the monthly financial statements:Reviews and analyzes construction budgets on monthly basis.Prepares and tracks cash flow for all projects.Reviews property income on a monthly basis.Prepares reports for banks on a yearly basis and upon request.Supervises year-end audit with controller (Maurice) and tax filing.Prepares annual declarations: minute book updates, yearly declarations, title holding companies, etc.

As an active member of the Management Team:Provides regular information to the Management Team following consultation with reviews and changes as requested.Contributes to organizational development by assisting the Management Team in the overall development of Katasa.

As a leader of the Finance Function and Team: Is able to take on a project and follow through to completion in a timely manner, addressing hurdles and conflicts as they arise throughout.Has strong verbal skills when presenting to the Management Team and groups of staff.Has effective written communication skills when presenting a report that can be understood by the Management Team and external stakeholders.Qualifications Education, Experience & Skills:Education: undergraduate degree with CPA designation.Experience:Has a minimum of 5 years business experience in a financial management position.Has led and managed finance & accounting teams, and acted as advisor to a Management team.Has experience working in small to medium-sized companies.Has experience in implementing new management initiatives (i.e.

implementing new software, reviewing department organization, etc.).Has experience and knowledge of real estate accounting and reporting.Skills:Has the ability to communicate effectively and clearly with the Management Team, employees and bankers.Is responsive to the requests and needs of the Management Team and other external stakeholders.Holds self and others accountable for meeting stipulated needs and deadlines.Is able to influence and listen effectively, to lead and motivate their team.Is able to anticipate situations and act to mitigate outcomes.Is willing to put in the work to properly understand the Company’s current processes, structures and financials so as to provi recommendations to maximizie efficiency and produce relevant reports.
