Director, Administrative Support (Records & Access to Information and Evidence Management)

With a budget of over $150 million and more than 1000 sworn and civilian members, The Waterloo Regional Police Service (WRPS) requires an experienced senior administration professional to fill the role of Director, Administrative Support (Records & Access to Information and Evidence Management).

The WRPS delivers exceptional police services to more than 575,000 residents. As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, the Director will plan, direct and oversee the administration of Records & Access to Information and Evidence Management.

Qualifications:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of records and archives management principles normally acquired through the successful completion of a Master’s degree in Records Management, Information Science, Business Administration, or other related field with eight (8) to ten (10) years’ experience in records management; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Minimum three (3) years of progressively responsible experience at a senior management level is required. Public sector experience in a unionized environment is considered an asset
  • Superior analytical, critical thinking, and problem solving skills to plan and prepare budgets, conduct data analysis, and make recommendations and decisions on various branch issues
  • Expert level knowledge of relevant federal, provincial, and municipal legislation, including police service by-laws, governing records retention requirements and evidence handling requirements
  • Proven organizational, multi-tasking, time management, and planning skills to organize resources and manage priorities in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment
  • Thorough knowledge of project management principles, practices, techniques, and tools
  • Technologically competent and able to continually embrace new technology. Comprehensive knowledge in the operation of a computer, software applications and records management systems
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with executive members, senior leaders and staff, as well as external stakeholders
  • Excellent skills in communication and human relations, emotional intelligence, facilitation, negotiation, public relations, and presentations
  • Ability to plan, execute and finalize projects according to strict deadlines
  • A valid Class ‘G’ Ontario Driver’s License with no more than six (6) demerit points required to travel within and outside of the Region
  • Ability to meet police security clearance requirements and to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to participate as an effective team member and to support and project values compatible with the organization
