Director, Laboratory, Infection Control and Cardiodiagnostic Services

Cambridge Memorial Hospital

This is a Full-time position in Outaouais, QC posted October 1, 2017.

Major Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the overall operation of the Lab, CRU, and IPAC departments
  • Coordinate/collaborate and foster effective working relationships to ensure the goals of the Laboratory, CRU and IPAC are met
  • Ensure that testing systems and test methodologies developed and selected provide accurate and quality results
  • Oversee IPAC professionals who facilitate infection control activities with the primary goal of reducing risk of hospital acquired infections (HAI)
  • Directs the development and coordination of surveillance activities of significant organisms and other HAI data
  • Provide leadership and oversight for patient experience, quality, risk and safety within the program area
  • Contribute to Corporate planning, projects, policy setting, and quality improvement activities
  • Oversee human resources management including performance management and the mentoring and coaching of staff
  • Oversight of financial management including budget development (capital and operating) and accountability for departmental budget and variance analysis
  • Ensure that all relevant quality control and quality assurance programs have been established
  • Develop and implement strategies to ensure compliance with all relevant, federal, provincial and professional standards, regulatory and accreditation requirements and industry best practice

Requires current membership with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario and Advanced Registration with the Canadian Society of Medical Laboratory Science and/or post secondary degree in science or management.

  • Masters level education preparation is preferred.
  • Candidate requires a minimum of ten (10) years of relevant management experience.
  • Demonstrated experience managing operations, people and applying financial management skills.
