Senior Project Manager, Capital Redevelopment Project

Cambridge Memorial Hospital

This is a Full-time position in Outaouais, QC posted October 1, 2017.

Oversee the construction and expansion of the Cambridge Memorial Hospital Capital Redevelopment Project (CRP)

  • Ensure that contract documents accurately and comprehensively represent the Hospital’s requirements and protect the interest of the Hospital
  • Closely monitor and analyze the Project Construction Schedule. Provide detailed analysis of the Construction Schedule to identify gaps, issues and risks to CMH and the project.
  • Be highly effective and proficient in project documentation. Provide ongoing, detailed and comprehensive documentation around specific project issues and risks, ensuring records are maintained for historical and legal documentation purposes.
  • Engage and facilitate the gathering of any documentation required from other stakeholders (contractor, consultants, third party vendors etc) in regards to specific risks, issues and legal elements for the CRP project and/or items impacting CMH.
  • Assist in the development of budget estimates and control processes for the total project including; construction costs/fees, furnishings, equipment and other expenses
  • Develop request for proposal documents for the purchase of goods, and/or consulting services as required for the construction of the Capital Redevelopment Project
  • Assist with the review and evaluation of contractor’s bid proposals and tender submissions as required
  • Prepare and issue timely and accurate progress reports and schedules detailing project status
  • Create timely monthly Board reports including summary and status of project issues, financial updates, summary of CRP CCN (incl pipeline estimate), CO, CDs, SI, CADA, PCC
  • Ensure the requirements of the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care, Infrastructure Ontario and other governmental/municipal agencies are addressed as the project is constructed
  • Liaise with planners, architects, engineers and hospital staff regarding the design, scope and functional efficiency of the Capital Redevelopment Project
  • Establish a consultative process with the architects and the consultant team to review any proposed changes to the design documents
  • As required, participate in the review of Contract Change documents, Cash Allowance expenditures and Progress Payment approvals on behalf of the hospital
  • Review and monitor contractor schedules and progress
  • Make regular inspections of the work in progress on behalf of the hospital
  • Ensure that building deficiencies are identified in a timely manner and that the deficiencies are appropriately addressed by the architect and contractor
  • Apply project management methodology to ensure the project is managed effectively and required resources are identified
  • Attend user and committee meetings as required
  • Skills and Qualifications:

    • University degree or college diploma in Engineering, Architecture or equivalent experience is required
    • Minimum of 20 years project management and construction experience in leading and delivering major hospital redevelopment projects successfully is required
    • Must have previous experience leading the completion of major hospital redevelopment projects under the Infrastructure Ontario, Alternate Financing Program (AFP) model
    • Experience with leading and managing all professional staff on a construction site is required
    • Strong knowledge of project management software and computer assisted drafting (CAD) is required
    • Demonstrated ability to interpret block schematics, sketch plans, working drawings and specifications is required
    • Strong knowledge of capital budgets, facility design and construction processes is required
    • Demonstrated experience with facility and equipment procurement, commissioning and orientation is required
    • Strong skills with respect to implementation of detailed project specifications of major construction projects is required
    • Strong knowledge of building code, construction and regulatory requirements is required
    • Demonstrated ability to lead teams and build consensus amoung the stakeholders and partners
    • Ability to perform in a manner that is consistent with the mission, vision and values of the hospital
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis is required.
