Project Manager/Senior Manager – Construction & Major Projects

This is a Contract position in Outaouais, QC posted August 23, 2017.

Reporting to the Director- Major Projects& Construction, the Project Manager/Senior Manager, will be responsible for the management of complex projects, including greenfield and brownfield developments and large, complex refurbishment projects within North America.

The incumbent in many cases will oversee multiple projects and will be accountable for all facets of the assigned project(s) including but not limited to:

  • Ensuring strict adherence to Brookfield’s Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE) requirements by contractors, consultants, employees and public throughout all phases of the project;
  • Managing the project within scope, schedule and budget; supporting the preparation of technical specifications and contract documents;
  • Strict monitoring and control of project costs, progress payments, contract management, including change orders, to ensure projects are completed on budget and schedule;
  • Regular preparation of project progress reports highlighting milestones and accomplishments of the project against schedule;
  • Supporting project development team in interaction with stakeholders, including utilities, financial institutions, government agencies, public interests and other organizations;
  • Ensuring close coordination with the Operations teams through construction, commissioning, integration and documentation phases for successful handover upon completion;
  • Responsible for internal and external project messaging and communication through frequent project reporting, informal and formal presentations and written reports.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience and ability in successful management and delivery of multiple projects simultaneously, organizing project teams, setting expectations and managing results;
  • A solid understanding of and experience with project management processes;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and planning/scheduling abilities;
  • Ability to manage and communicate with internal and contracted employees to ensure project deliverables (HSSE, scope, schedule, budget);
  • Excellent computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office products;
  • Demonstrated experience on managing all financial matters for assigned projects;
  • Ability to travel and work at assigned locations for extended period of time will be required;
  • Strong oral and written communication skills in Canada’s official languages.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in managing large, complex construction projects;
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or equivalent education and experience in Project and Construction Management of large hydropower, wind, solar and/or transmission projects;
  • Professional engineer (P.Eng) preferred. Alternative designations with a focus on project management (e.g. PMP) will be considered;
  • Experience in the hydropower, wind, solar or other power generation field preferred;
  • Intimate knowledge of related industry standards, and knowledge of state / provincial and federal environmental and construction regulations.
